New Jersey Meadowlands Commission

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) is the planning and zoning agency for 30.4-square-mile Meadowlands District, which consists of portions of 14 municipalities in Bergen and Hudson counties. The agency was created by an Act of the Legislature in 1968 and tasked with a three-fold mandate: to protect the delicate balance of nature, to provide for orderly development of the region and to provide facilities for the sanitary disposal of waste.
